Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of The Art History App (the "App"), operated by Alex Zhang in California, United States ("we"). Contact: thearthistoryapp@gmail.com.
1. The license
Your license to use the App is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These terms add details specific to the App. If they conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA wins.
2. Free access
The first unit of every learning path is free, and after it you can take a limited number of new lessons each day. Replaying lessons you've finished is always free. We may change what is included for free, but we won't take away lessons you have already finished.
3. Art History Plus subscriptions
- Art History Plus unlocks every lesson in every path with no daily limit, and unlimited Focus.
- Plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the App before you buy. Prices can vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.
- If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases.
- If you reinstall the App or switch devices, use Restore purchases on the Plus screen to get your subscription back.
4. Content
Lessons, text, illustrations and the App's design belong to us. You may use them for your own learning, but not copy, resell or redistribute them.
Artwork images come from Wikimedia Commons and remain under their own licenses or in the public domain. Each work's source is listed in the App (Settings, Sources & methodology).
The App is for education. We work to keep it accurate and cite our sources, but art history involves interpretation and ongoing research, so we can't guarantee every statement is complete or error free.
5. Acceptable use
Don't try to bypass the subscription, reverse engineer the App beyond what the law allows, or interfere with its operation.
6. Disclaimer and liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost progress stored on your device. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
7. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, United States, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above, and continued use of the App after an update means you accept it.
